About Us
Gladys Cortes, an accomplished C-Suite Leader with extensive experience in healthcare operations, business development, value-based care and quality strategies, initially created MedAssist Consulting Group to support Miami, Florida primary care practices in understanding and navigating the complexities of managed care. Throughout the years, the consultancy has grown to include payers, ACOs, CINs, and multi-specialty physician groups. Gladys started her career as a concert pianist and while attending university, accepted an internship at a health insurance brokerage firm specializing in tailoring benefit designs to small and large groups, with a unique service offering that included interpreting and managing provider contracts to improve service delivery of its employer group client's payer relationships.
Inspired by the possibilities to help consumers, physicians, payers and employers group navigate the complicated healthcare system, three years later she left the brokerage firm, and the university, and started her career as a Director of Provider Relations for a Miami-based Medicaid health maintenance organization, adding leadership roles and accolades to her resume while at the health plan, culminating in her final position as advisor to the CEO, serving as Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development.
In her various roles that followed, Gladys has a proven her expertise in guiding and writing to Medicare, Medicaid, public health and commercial initiatives and programs, managing high-performance teams, and fostering strategic relationships at all levels. She possesses exceptional communication, technical acumen and presentation skills, effectively conveying complex analytical findings to diverse audiences and influencing key stakeholders orally and in writing.
Her expertise includes practice management, payer relationships, network development, financial modeling, value-based care, utilization management, population health and policy, proposal or program implementation or development within complex healthcare environments that include state Medicaid programs, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, several CMS and CMMI Innovation programs (e.g., MSSP, Primary Care First, ACO Reach).
